ASP.NET is not whta MS said it was or tried to say it is since you are just letting some one lese write you jscript so to change stuff you have to learn jscript very well which is not what MS was impling when they start all the ASP.NET hype. There are some great things in asp.net, the speed is awesome, ado.net speed is crapy at best ( 5-7 seconds to create a connection is the worse I have every seen) but the controls give you some great chances to build some cool web apps, just check out what you can do with a asp.net datagrid control, http://www.dotnetjunkies.com/Tutorial/ShowContent.aspx?cg=841522c9-ffbd-4c57-bd48-f62b55057ff3&forumid=4117 , they show hierarchical data in the grid.  way cool since it is not built in to the grid.

This site has some good graphics and cool tools, http://oxyx.oxygen-inc.com/

To read more about it go here, http://www.samurize.com/modules/xoopsfaq/index.php . there are scripts to display other stuff it appears but great tool for developers that need to watch something and see the app at the same time.

It amazes me that the calendar , cards, and gift people or the world can just make up holidays and special days to get us to buy crap.  Today is National Boss Day in case you did not know that. You got it that means that today you should have picked up or sent  your boss something which includes the owner/president/ceo/cio,coo/cfo/cto/and those others at the top of the food change , managers, and supervisors. So if you are at the bottom all of those above you are a boss to you so that is a bunch of crap you should have sent or purchased something for.  So tell me this, where is the day they do that for the others , we all know the secretaries have a day, a whole week on some calendars, but i do not recall a mail room person day, a file clerk day so when are we going to see those.  Really I want ot see the Nerd Day, ie the people that make all those other poele jobs easier and if they want could really make it so that those others are not needed at all.   If  I remember the Boss gets something from us everyday , we have to do what every they tell us or they can tell us where to go, and we get something from them every day, money ( well usually unless they are scaming you and not telling you that in a fews days when I usually guy you money to pay you I am not going to )    :-)

Death to calendar, card, gift  people unless they make a Nerds Rule The World Day.

Bandwidth Speed pages on the internet, some are better than others but this one lists some good ones and has the all import upload tests which is the big factor and makes your great cox cable connection look like crap and you realise that you are way over paying to download really fast and upload slower than a adsl line.  Enjoy, http://bandwidthtest.info  .  If you need a good quick  www.speed-test.net and then there are these two that are pretty good ones to do as well ,  http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest and http://www.dslreports.com/stest

This is a little device that seems to work for 15 bucks, http://www.wirelessweek.com/index.asp?layout=article&articleid=CA3415

Here is info about laptops, I knew that alot of them looked the same but he is the secret about who really makes them,  http://www.powernotebooks.com/Name_Brand.php3

Here is a good place to get .NET information on Data Access with ADO.NET, http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnbda/html/daag.asp ,
here is the a best practices for Using ADO.NET from MSDN , http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnadonet/html/adonetbest.asp

Man, MS does a terrible job of putting out infomration on JET Engine. They added a feature that was need and never publisjhed it as a new feature or anything. I read tons of access articles and never once have I seen any one talk about being able to get the value of the last auto-increment value/@@Identity , here is a link to an article about doing it. Man, i could have saved a ton of time with this, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;232144  . Another couple of them that they did not talk up are Stored Procedures and View , http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;275561 , The views are ugradable to sql server and the stored procedures even though not like real ones will allow parameters which would make them much easier to upgrade to sql server without changing code.

Wow, It is the first day of October already.  Put the big thing this year is the Do-Not-Call-List , you can read the Do-Not-Call-List Act of March ,2003 here http://www.congress.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c108:H.R.395:

Here is stuff from the FTC, http://www.ftc.gov/os/2003/01/tsrfrn.pdf
and then the FCC, http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/FCC-03-153A1.pdf
and this is good sellers/telemarketers info , http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/alerts/dncbizalrt.htm

After read lots of stuff on this, I will be surprised if they can very make any of this stick. There are loops and privacy and all kinds of public information problems. It really appears like an attempt by the FTC and US Congress to raise money.  They are going to be killing lots of trees to keep of with this in businesses.  The tree huggers should be fighting this thing. :) One thing I did read that made me laugh was that the FTC said the registry will be available on-line and a business has to access it there ( so if a DOS or a worm or the Internet is down in your area you will be screwed) and that help to get access will be available during regular business hours. Never says what that is and since all the yelling is about getting calls during dinner I would thing that the help service would be there during the peak times of the calls and when people should be access. Once again government rule and law makers are idiots and the employees of government are idiots ( I work for a state agency, I will tell you most of them are. They would never be able to get a job and keep it in the real world. They are lazy, unskilled , and lack communication skills, and we will not even talk about customer relations skills) .
